What do you think of the name Paloma? It's come to my attention recently and I'm reminded of how much I like it. It's so round and warm and golden.

I find it a bit retro - I think because the first place I ever heard it used was on Picasso's daughter, so it has a sort of 1950's vibe for me - plus it makes me think of old Westerns, I guess because of the "palomino" similarity. But is it actually more trendy than classic, in your opinion?

Any combo ideas?

I've wanted to like it before, because it reminds me of dove symbolism and has a funky but traditional vibe, similar to how Paola would to me, but at the same time it seems kind of impersonal...like Pomona which seems so geographical to me, even when I try to associate it with the goddess instead, or like Columba which reminds me of columns and Columbia (I think almost exclusively of movies plus the country)...

I've never thought of the palomino association before. I do think it's an interesting name.
It does seem kind of trendy but in an offbeat way, more like Ramona / Etta / Calliope than Sophie / Harper / Isabella.

To me it just means "popcorn" or maybe "dove" because I hear it in Spanish. I've never heard of Paloma as a name.

I don't get that connection but if that's true then it makes me like this name ten times more! Popcorn...how?

Oh yeah, 'palomitas' is how you say popcorn in Spanish (at least in my dialect). But I don't really make that connection either.

Paloma sounds very motherly and earthy. Paloma makes me picture a pleasantly plump woman who loves to garden, wins lots of flower contests, and makes fantastic pies. Pomona gives me a similar image.

I find it very warm. That "loma" is so supple. I like it! It doesn't seem particularly trendy to me.

I love Paloma! It's been a favorite of mine for a while. It has a musical sound to it, and just gives a warm and inviting impression. I hadn't connected it with palomino, somehow. I looked it up, and they're derived from the same etymology.

Alondra would be a cute sibling name.

I think it's okay. It's not that outstanding to me, but at least it's an easy-to-pronounce Spanish name that has a nice meaning.
