Where I live, there are a lot of originally Dutch surnames many of which start with Van or Van Der; so Van could never be anything other than a nn to me. Vance, then, though I don't find it appealing.

Victor is a family name, so I'm happy with it. I don't enjoy other male V names; Vernon is probably the least worst.
