Hayley reminds me of the countryside in early summer, clear skies, breezy, because of the "hay" part.
Haley is urban and full of energy, like a city at nighttime. As for
Hailey, it's modern and outgoing. I don't really have an image for this spelling.
I would choose
Hayley over
Haley because it's the "original" spelling, but
Haley isn't bad. Just not my style. My favourite is
Haylie, it's youthful without being exaggerated. Overall, I like the name, but I feel it's dated, perhaps due to the multiple variants.
This name is not used in my country, but
Hailey is the trendy spelling in
Europe. It charted in
France, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and even Sweden.
By the way, the worst spelling I've seen (so far) is Haliey, and yes, borne by that girl who became a meme.
