Well, the fact that it's a grandmother's name makes it all the more worthy of consideration, in my opinion! My name is
William (and I strictly go by "
Will," most of the time), so I know how it feels to have an uber-common name- it can be (or was) somewhat annoying, if there are multiple of us in a workplace/classroom...but you learn to live with it. I don't think the name
Sophia is boring, and being "fancy" is another quality for me. I'm sure
Sophia would be proud of her name; unlike parents who may have chosen what's popular, there's extra sentimental behind her name. Besides, you both love the name
Sophia Juliet anyway, and that's what truly matters. I personally much prefer
Sophie to
Sophia, but I think that
Sophia is still a wonderful choice.
Juliet is also a beautiful name, and I think that it pairs nicely with
Sophia. I can't think of any nicknames other than Soph, Phia, and Soapy, but I personally just prefer
Sophia in its full form.
