I think people generally choose Scarlett because of familiarity with Charlotte, a well established favorite for centuries. Not the other way around.

Sure, though I think people use Scarlett because of Scarlett Johansson and Gone With the Wind (Rhett has also risen) plus maybe they like the color.
I meant that during this wave of Charlotte's popularity, it seems associated with Scarlett due to similarity in sound and timing of its rise, which diminishes my liking of it a bit, compared to back when I mainly associated it with my grandmother.
