I doubt most people would use this suggestion, but at least it's out there:

Atticus is okay, not a big fan of Tacitus, but I would never, ever, ever use anagrams as twin names. Twins deserve names of their own, just like any other sibset. Everyone deserves a name that is chosen especially for them, not one that is chosen to match their siblings.

Your opinion is understandable - no worries. ;)
I'm not a big fan of anagram names either, but the fact that the names were anagrams of each other had just occurred to me when I was looking at the name "Tacitus," so I figured I'd put it up at least. :)

I like Atticus, and I like Tacita for a girl (Stephen Stills' sister? half sister? is a Tacita). Tacitus does nothing for me, and I find Atticus and Tacitus a bit too close for siblings, let alone twins.

I like the name Tacitus - mind you, I'd probably never name my child that, but it is a name I rather do like. :)

I love Atticus, and would certainly use it (if my boyfriend would let me).
However, Tacitus? I see Taci (or tacky), and -Tus as in Titus (a name I loathe).
Anyway, I REALLY LOATHE twinsy names. One egg or two - they are completely different people, who deserve their own name. Growing up they are going to share everything, do they have to share a similar name?
All the twins I know and have this discussion with are happy their parents didnt give them overly cutesy twin names. (Daniel and Matthew, Rebecca and Elizabeth, Dana and Devin). The one pair of twins that did have kind of cutesy names are Anthony "Tony" and Andrew "Andy" who were completely opposite (identical) twins and loathed they had names that were picked because they were close together and had the -y ending nn. They both liked their own name, but hated how it was just chosen by the fact their mom thought it was "cute" for twins

*nods in agreement* I'm not big on cutesy-pie names for twins, but I do find them interesting to look at, especially when they find ones that have the same meaning, etc. (I'm a big fan of name meanings. I swear, I'll refuse to use a name for a character simply because I don't know the meaning of it.)
But yeah, giving twins individuality is one of the coolest things to do. I know two twins - identical - I swear you can't tell them apart just by looking at them. You seriously have to know them really well or listen to their voices to know which is which. But they have similiar names: Ashley and Aubrey. They've never expressed any disliking towards their names though or the fact that they're so similiar, but I guess everyone's different?
