Re: surnames Beasley and Horton
English place-names.
Beesley in Lancashire; a clearing certainly, perhaps one that attracted a lot of bees.
Horton, a common place-name, there are at least 17 Hortons; the usual meaning is "muddy farmstead." There is one Horton in Gloucestershire (Avon) that was hore dun, or "stag hill." There is also a Scottish Horton, another muddy farm I suppose.
