Re: Sunjic....what the hell does it mean?
in reply to a message by Andrija Sunjic
maybe it's [unji}. [unji} is probably derived from bosnian (serbian) word (verb) "[unjati se" which means "to creep". And if your surname iz Sunjic exactly as you wrote, then I really couldn't help you, sorry. How do you pronounce it???

Šunjiæ is how it is written in Serbo-Croatian. You pronounce it Shu-ny-ich - say Š as sh as in sugar, the nj as ny as in canyon, the æ with a ch sound as in cello.
I got my Character Map erased and that's why I didn't spell it correctly. Šunjiæ... I know that in Serbian the verb "Šunjati se" means "to creep" and it's probably how the surname originated. I hope I helped you.
http://www.dimensional.com/~phantomr/folkdanc/alphabet/serbo-croatian.htm - That is a mistake in the c, this text you see can't show the c letter I want to show you and it makes it look like ae. The c in the website is the one with the single dash above it.
