Replies

Meaning is "gravelly homestead", Old English greot and ham. Both places are listed in the Domesday Book, 1086, spelt Gretham. A Hugh de Gretham is on record in 1297, and an Alice de Greteham in 1363.

The second root could also be hamm 'enclosure' according to my sources.
