Re: French surname - VAUN
in reply to a message by Marc
Thank you Marc.
I'm currently exploring the possibility that whilst Joseph Vaun was born in France his parents may have been temporarily residing there around the time of his birth. However, I won't make too much progress on this possibility until later in the year.
In the meantime I hope you may be able to assist me in exploring an alternative possibility. That being whether Joseph may have anglicized his surname after arrival in England.
Are there any French surnames that obviously could be anglicized to produce the English? surname of Vaun? If none come to mind, it is not a problem. Thank you for the assistance that you have already provided.
