A long-shot attempt

I suspect the surname Kossaros is related to either "koursaros" which means pirate (and is related to the English "corsair") or to "houssaros" which is derived from the Hungarian "huszar" ("light horseman").
Both corsair and huszar share the same etymology, the Latin currere ("to run") and, ultimately, the Greek "-khouros" (i.e. "running").
