Leivars is a variant of Le(i)vers which is derived from Lever and which is from the placename Great or Little Lever in Lancashire. The placename may derive from Old English lǣfere, the plural form of Old English lǣfer ‘rush, reed, iris’. If you go to tinyurl.com/y7mkrn4x and click on England & Wales, you'll see that Leivars and its variants are centered in and around Derbyshire.

Many thanks for your kind help Lepic.
I was heading down the flemish route as a few people had mentioned its origin being Flemish and the fact i could not find out anything about its origins being English.
I will now have another look for it being of English origin thanks to your good self

Leivar (without the s) is Spanish, in distribution if not origin. Supposedly 25% of Leivars are also Spanish.
