I was told Yawn is scotish. My father is Clifton troy yawn. His father and mother. Sally and Charles yawn. His brother Chris and Thomas yawn. They currently live in north Carolina. I know this isn't much but maybe this will help u. We are from Georgia

I have heard Scottish as well. The original spelling may have been Yaun. Also, the Wiregrass region of Georgia and Florida,or Beaufort S.C. are good starting locations to look way back.

The surname Yawn does not exist in Scotland. It's an alteration of the German name Jahn 'John' (see tinyurl.com/y874a9sd). Your ancestor was Swiss German as you can see at tinyurl.com/y78vb6jt.

My daddy Donnie Clifton Yawn was born in Dublin Ga his parents Bernice& John” Silas “ Yawn , two brothers Willis and Tommy and a sister Hilda . I’ve been told by family that we’re Irish,Cherokee,maybe some British or Scottish…I’d absolutely love to see if our family is connected to more YAWNS …lol
