Re: Cherazi????
Not disagreeing with Tom D's suggestion, which seems a distinct possibility, particularly if the Roman alphabet version occurs in a French language context.
I would just point to an Iranian place name, Chehraz, and an Iranian surname, Chehrazi, silar to Cherazi.
Either way an Iranian provenance looks likely.

Correction: 'silar' should be 'similar'.

Yeah I see what your saying. My instincts are leading more towards Persian(Iranian), but I to believe it has other origins. Italian is possibly another as well, or Jewish but not the Yiddish origin more of the Sephardi type. But, it's hard to find really any information on this surname.

It has nothing to do with italian; it's persian , the meaning given is right.

My mistake it's Shiraz/Shirazi.
