My family member's maiden name was Scott, but she was from Denmark and only spoke Danish. My mother insisted for years that "Scott" was Danish. I knew she was wrong. :) Thank you!!

No problem ...certainly they're both coastal countries with significant seafaring histories so it wouldn't be a stretch that a Scottish family settled in Denmark.
