Degas signifie "de Gas" coming from the village of Gas, in Northern France I think.
Magnol it is occupational referring to a silkworm breeder I suppose.See the french site: www.jtosti.com/noms.

No that interpretation was wrong:
Magnol most probably comes from a name of a place MAGNOL, spread in France.
