Re: What does my surname (Arellano) mean??
Looking at an Italian dictionary, the closest I could get was "arenato" which means stranded or beached or a strand which is a beach ...the last part of the name is obviously a diminutive, but maybe the L and R difference is regional or occurred upon immigration.Nothing even that close in a Spanish dictionary, but maybe Sagani knows ...

According to Gutierre TIBON Aurellano is the Basque variant of a Spanish first name Aureliano, coming from the given name "Aurelio".
In Italy it is possible to find Arigliano or Aureli.
In Italy it's quite common Arena: this surname has a locative origin.
