UBBO as a German given name could be a short form of:
- HUGBALD
- URBAN (not very German)
- names beginning (or maybe ending) with ULF ("wolf" like in WULFRIED) or ODAL ("property" like in ODALRIK = ULRICH)Ask Satu for SKJOLDR etc.Andy ;—)

Without giving too many details, we can say, that the Fresian languge is closely related to other Germanic languages, such Old English or Old Saxon. These are comprehended as North Sea Teutons (Nordseegermanen), but the Fresians were in close touch with other Germanic tribes that spoke early Dutch or Low German. So there are a lot of similarities and you will find similar forms of names on both sides.Andy ;—)
