Steinmann
What does "Steinmann" mean? It's from the German-speaking part of Switzerland (the bearer was from Zurich around 1900). Once, my grandpa (who speaks german) translated it literally, and he came up with stone man, which he interpreted as a mason. Is that right?

My book of German Surnames says the same (Duden, Familiennamen)

I know in Norwegian, a related language, that "stein" is indeed a stone ...so it makes sense ...
