Hartell???

Can anybody tell me what this means? I'm white anglo american with who knows what else mixed in.

Hartell is/was the name given to people who came from harthill in chesire. It dates back to roman time. Hartell is a dirivative from harthill. Others include hartill, hartel

Hi Yahalome,

there's a German surname Hartel (just one l), which derives from Old German first names beginning or ending with Hart-/-hart. The Old German word "harti" means hard, strong. The suffix -l is from Southern Germany.

Nah, just modified from the original. Where you from? Any possible relation? My dad is (Norman) Douglas, my grampa Norman. My brother is Scott, grown and married. Julia aka Yahalome :)
