Axarides, Jamboretz, Nachtrieb, Zilbershlag
Axarides, Jamboretz, & Nachtrieb look like they would be French. Zilbershlag looks like it would be German or Jewish. Does Zilbershlag possibly mean "silver flag" ? I don't really know for sure, these are just some possible guesses. What are the origins & meanings of these names ?

Without delving too far into my books, I'd guess, Nachtreib is 'night...something' ...maybe 'tribe' ...

Just guessing and a tad drunk ...please come to my aid all those etymological wizards ...

Axarides is a Pontic Greek name. Axari was a city in western anatolia. But the name is from the region of Pontos on the black sea.

It comes probably from the german name of a "nachtrab"
which is a night bird like the owl.

I don't know the origin of the surname Nachtrieb, but the modern German word 'Nachtrieb' is actually Nach + Trieb. Unfortunately I don't know how to translate it. Simply put, it is the opposite of 'Vortrieb', a word with four different translations on http://dict.leo.org .Nachtrieb is also in daily use, but strangely it's not in the dictionary...

Zilberschlag seems to be the Yiddish form of German Silberschlag. This means the 'Z' should not be pronounced as 'ts' as would be the case in a German name (unless someone called Zilberschlag tells you to, of course. The owner of a name is always right). Silber=Silver, Schlag=Strike, so it seems to be an occupational name. Kupfer- (copper) and Gold- (gold) schlag also exist as surnames.

The "basic" surname could be NACHTRAB, this surname existe both in Germany and USA. NACHTRIEB exists in Germany as well.
It could be a variant of NACHTRAB
It is a bird like a owl
