Re: Origin of British surname Wanger
in reply to a message by Marc
This English surname Wanger is a variant of a more common surname Wager, both surnames most concentrated in county Essex and London. The origin of Wanger/Wager is uncertain though. Perhaps it is a name for someone who deals with "wages", a "wager", or perhaps a name for a cartwright, a builder of wagons, a wagoner.More of the surname Wager can be found here - (http://www.surnamedb.com/Surname/Wager)
