Calabrian, apparently from the Greek Hieros, "holy", which was probably a male given name. As is often noted here, surnames whose origins lie in the Greek language are not uncommon in Southern Italy.

The etymology sounds fine to me but I'm wondering why there would be so many bearers of the name (relatively speaking) in Northern Italy as shown at http://gens.labo.net/.
