Teschke + Benton
My fiance and I would like to combine our last names, since we don't have any foundness for our own. Besides Bentke (Bentkey), does anyone have any good ideas for us? We are also open to using the meanings of them and using it that way. Unfortunatley I cant find ANYTHING about the Teschke name, so we don't know what his name means. Maybe an anagram generator that can handle last names?

No advice on changing ...as a genealogist my feeling is that it only confuses things for your descendants ...Teschke
German: from a pet form of the personal name Tesch.
Tesch
German: from a short form of the various Slavic personal names with a first element teš ‘comfort’, ‘consolation’, for example Tešimir (with a second element meaning ‘great’, ‘famous’), Tešislav (where the second element means ‘glory’). BTW ...Benton ...Benton
English: habitational name from a pair of villages in Northumbria named with Old English bean ‘beans’ (a collective singular) or beonet ‘bent grass’ + tun ‘enclosure’, ‘settlement’. The name is now most frequent in the West Midlands, however, so it may be that a place of the same name in that area should be sought as its origin. Just remember, their may be no love lost for your current family or family names, but many who went before you suffered much and survived much to make it possible for you to even exist ...just food for thought ...good luck!
