I am wondering the meaning of my surname----Oles. I believe I have a polish, swedish heritage.

Probably there are Oles in Spain as well namely in the Pyrenees area.

At the moment in Europe this surname only exists in GERMANY, perhaps extremely rare in Sweden. in scandinavian countries see OLESEN.

I don't find OLES in my German book of surnames (which of course doesn't mean it's not a German name). But I did find OLESCH (pronounced Olesh), and this sounds interesting to me:

"From a Polish vernacular form of Alexander, adapted to German"

It could be german or swedish. In Sweden it is extremely rare. On white pages you'll find OLESEN. In Germany OLES is a local surname (see german white pages): About hundred names on German White Pages.

I think it is a familar form of Olaf ...which is a common name in Scandinavia ...meaning "ancestor" ...

In addition to previous suggestions - there is a Polish surname Oles, very rare spelt like that. However, in Polish, a diacritical mark can be placed above the S to indicate that it is pronounecd SH. This is a more common name. It is a diminutive of Aleksander, so your ancestor could have been a Pole called Alexander but better known by this less formal version of his baptismal name.
