Surname: Van Sant
Hi- I found my way here through a Lord of the Rings list that I'm on. I'd love to know what my last name means- I was surprised it wasn't on the list here, but I guess it's not as common as I thought. Anyway, it's Dutch, and the name is Van Sant. I'm sure it's been spelled plenty of other ways- Van Zant, Van Zandt, Van Sandt, Vansant, Vanzant, etc. Any info anyone might have would be very much appreciated! Thanks.

Van-Sant is actually low German and Means from (the Municipality of) Zandt in Germany
Not knowing any Dutch, I would still guess:
Dweller on (or near) sandy land.
Menke definitely knows more here.

Makes sense to me, but I don't know any Dutch, either. :) How can I get in touch with Menke?

Find Menke?
Just wait. Eventually he'll turn up. Maybe after his 11 weeks Korean course …
