KOBBER KAABER as srurame and given name
Danish origin in North Jutland,Hjorring Amt
My family history has this name in every generation but mostly as a given name, from 1600s right to my first cousin born in Canada 1935. Legend is out there but I can't find it. Any connections?
Means ''the element copper'' in English. There are no copper mines in Denmark but the name might be, as per a kind person who responded to my original posting,Low German from one who works with copper. As Denamrk contained counties now in Germany maybe that is where it came from. But those counties were the most southernly and Hjorring in way up north.Hope to hear from someone before our trip top Denmark June 2005. Kathleen Niagara, Canada
