I am researching my family surnames...any help is appreciated! LAJARA, family comes from Dominican Republic. OHLEMACHER is from German descent, may have a meaning relating to hole-digger, grave digger. Thanks!

Ohlemacher means 'maker of oil'. Ohle is an old form of the word Öl (Oel).

My last name is Ohlemacher, my fathers side is all Ohlemacher, many of us down in Texas and Louisiana, USA. Descended from Germany.
