It is a Noweigen name, I am sure of it. It is spelled Midtovne today, but I think it used to be spelled Midtoven. It anyone can help, I would be grateful. It is my boyfriend's last name and he is thinking of getting it legally changed from Midtovne to Midtoven, but would like more information first. Thanks!

There are a number of Norwegian surnames that start with Midt-, But I don't think Midtovne is one of them. Instead, it is probably Scottish or English, either a shortened form of Middleton, or a separate surname with the same meaning.
