Trying to find the meanings of the names: "Eames" and "Cabell" (Cabell is used as both a first name and a surname). Thanks!

Cabell has surely a british origin. But in USA it could be an americanization of the Spanish or Italian surname CABELLO or of French
CABEL. A surname CABELL could exist also in Spanish region of Catalunya.
I an not sure about the meaning of Cabell as a British surname.
The spanish Cabello comes from "hair" so it is a nickname. The Italian
variant has a locative origin. I ignore the meaning an origin of French Cabel.

Eames comes from the old word EME, meaning "uncle". Maybe it was a nickname, or it identified someone whose only claim to fame was that he was the uncle of a better known person.
Cabell may have been a given name, according to Reaney (Dictionary of British Surnames). He gives an example, Kabell son of William living in 1286; nothing on the meaning. He also suggests a metonymic for a ropemaker, cable = rope, or something to do with CABAL, an old word for a horse. Take your pick.
