Language: Arabic
El-Ghazzawy: The one from Gaza (Palestina)
El-Hashem/Hashim: 'The Hashemite'. From Hashm, 'to break bread'
El-Amin: 'The faithful'
El-Mofty: 'The Mufti' (legal expert, literally, 'the one with the fatwa')
El-Qases/Qasas: 'The narrative' (title of a chapter of the Quran)
El-Shafei: 'The Intercessor' (i.e. the Prophet of Islam, who will hopefully intercede on one's behalf before God on the day of judgement)
El-Zein/Zayn: 'The ornament'.
