Nationality of Laplante
I'm writing a series of novels that I want to have published sometime in the future. The lead character's surname is Laplante. I thought that name was Italian for a while. Now it's starting to sound French. What is this name's nationality? It has absolutely nothing to do with the plot, I'm just curious.

The surname in America is surely from MONTREAL, but in France is spread in the CENTRE of the country namely near LMOGES.
It is a locative surname coming from places.
Especially planted by vineyards.

The origin of LaPlante is French, & the name designates the dweller where bushes & young trees are started for transplanting. I found this information in a surname book at the library.
