Paecca/ Pacca - Germanic meaning...... Your thoughts needed!
Pacca/ Paecca seems to be related to the Germanic Paeccings, ing is patronymic. The people of Paecca, but what is the meaning of Paecca?
Could be related to Pacce meaning dirty, watery land or to Paca Old English meaning (thatch) roof.
Any thought most welcome??

Your guess is as good as anybody's as no-one seems to have a clue about this. As it's a component of English place-names your ideas would seem to be worthy of consideration. However all sources I've read claim that it's a man's name. The -ing ending, as in Patching, West Sussex, does seem to support this as it's an Old Saxon clan name, Paecca's clan (family and followers).
