Junior
This website says that Jr. applies only while the father is still living. I've been a Jr. my entire life and all my legal documents show me as a Jr. Now that my father has passed away, am I no longer Jr. but now a second (II) instead? Where can I go to get an authoritative answer to this question?

Bill, you don't go from being a Junior to a II. You simply drop the "Jr." when your father passes away. That's according to etiquette, and you can find the authoritative answer in many an old book of etiquette. But then, not many folks stand on etiquette these days, and often the "Jr." appellation becomes so firmly identified with the bearer that even after Senior passes away, the Jr. continues to stick.-- Nanaea
