I am not certain about this, but I'm toying with the idea that this name is not Spanish. I can find no Spanish references, only Filipino. I did believe that the "Catalogo Alfabetico ..." contained only Spanish surnames imposed on the population by the Spanish administration, but clearly one of these opinions must be wrong.

it's pronounced in a way that makes it sound spanish. (aye-day-hair) so I always assumed it was but ig the story is more complicated than that
