Origin of (almost definitely) extinct surname
While I have been researching my family history, I have come across several unusual surnames and I have managed to find the origins and meanings of all of these, except from the surname 'Reachelous'. Most of the people with the surname Reachelous (and its many spelling variants- Rachelous, Rechelous, Reatchelows, Rechelows to name just a few) come from the following British counties: Huntingdonshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire. The last record I could find for someone with this surname was the mid 19th century.Any ideas?

The name Reckless is extant in England, though far from common. Reaney and Wilson list this name, giving instances - John Recheles, 1273; Henry Reklesse, 1477, in Northamptonshire. From Old English receleas, "reckless, indifferent". Reachelous, etc., might be variants.
