Does anyone know what exactly does this surname means, and where it might come from?
All I know about it is, the bearer is Jewish.

Katan is Hebrew for "little", as Klein is German and Yiddish for same, and Klein is a pretty common Jewish (Ashkenazic) surname. I wonder if Katten is another spelling of Katan.
