what do you think about this one?
Anyone have any ideas on OLLRE? Most records seem to indicate Bavaria,Germany, Switerland, some in France most settling in Texas ( Gonzales, Houston, some Louisiana) we have always wondered where our last name is from...has been a mystery! Any help would be great!

gives some misspellings (and variants?) of the German surname Oeller, which, I imagine, has something to do with oil; a vendor of olive oil perhaps, or an extractor of vegetable oil.
There is also a dialect word, Oellre, which appears to be cognate with the standard German elter (elder?). Perhaps someone with a good knowledge of the language could help you with this.

The dialect word you refer to is "Oller", I gues. It means "Alter" (=old one) which is a rude thing to call someone. I don't think it has anything to do with the surname.

Thanks for that.
