Barney is probably from a place in Norfolk, England, called Barney; meaning "Bera's island". Bera is a man's name, and Island could be just a an area of dry ground in marshy land.
If Normore is a British name it may mean "north moor". There is a place called Northmoor in Oxfordshire, England, but no evidence of a connection.
