What does my maiden name mean?
My maiden name was Pavlisko. I know that my great-grandparents hailed from what is now either Czech Republic or Slovakia. I was wondering if anyone out there knows what it means and/or how it originated.mo

It's safe to assume that this name is Slavic, and that it derives from the forename Pavel, Paul in English. The ending looks Ukrainian or Rusyn, pretty much the same thing except that the Rusyn are found in various adjacent countries. So it probably means you descend from a man named Pavel, and that your ancestors were Rusyn, also called Ruthenians, living in Czech or Slovak territory.

Yes, it obviously comes from the name Pavel. I don't know about the Rusyn origin, it seems to me the ending can be Czech as well. Or Slovak - there's the surname Jakubisko (Juraj Jakubisko), which comes from Jakub (James). Anyway, the name's still present in the Czech Republic. Moreover, Carpathian Ruthenia was in the time between WWI and WWII part of Czechoslovakia, so if it IS Rusyn, this is an easy way how it could get into the country which is now the Czech Republic.
