origin of german surname Kamprad
Could anyone explain me the origin of this german surname?Thank you in advance.

The digital phone directory lists 184 KAMPRADs in Germany which means there may be around 500 - 600.KAMPFRAD appears 5 (> 15) times, CAMPRAD 4 (> 12) times.Neither of these names appear in any of my books. So my guess would be:KAMPF (fight, battle) + RAD (counsil)or (less likely): KAMP (field, camp) + RADKAMPF is unusual in a personal name, but maybe it has replaced an older GUND or WIG. I don't know.
