Khayfets
What does this surname mean? I know it also has many other spellings such as: Heifets, Heifetz, Kheifets, Kheifetz, Khayfets, Khayfetz, Khayfits, Khayfitz. I'm sure there are other ways of spelling it too. And any idea of the origin?

from Hebrew Hefetz or Hafetz means "wanting" willing" from psalms Mi haish khafetz haim - who is the man that wills to live..... . There is a famous rabbi Khafetz Khayim
Looks Arabic. Some names that sound remotely similar to the first part of the name (the khay/hei part) are Haytham, which means "young eagle," Hayfa, which means "slender," Khayrat, which means "good deed," Khayri(yya), which means "charitable," and Khayyam, which means "tent maker". A name that sounds similar to the last syllable (-fets) is Fayz, which means "victorious."

The Oxford Names Companion says from Hebrew CHEFETS, meaning "delight, pleasure".
