does anyone know the meaning or origin of the given name (first name) 'Ostap'?

Wrong website, but as there are several Russian and Ukrainian surnames from Ostap (Ostapov, Ostapenko, etc.), here goes:
it's a popular form of the more formal Efstafii, which is the Russian version of the Greek Eustathios, meaning "standing firm", or something like that. Eustace is the English vesion.
