Can anyone help me with the meaning and origin of the surname Heymer? My family always thought that it was jewish, but now we're not too sure.

As a German surname, HEYMER is a variant of HEIMER. This can be a patronymic form of HEIM(O) or else from personal names like HEIMBERT:
