Hiya ppl... im hoping someone here can help me find the meaning of my surname ' FELINE'
We have traced our family tree to 16 centruy france, i know there is a well known little city their name feline... and that there were famous silver smiths in the family... i also know we have a family shield... i havent really got much details on the meaning of our last name though.... so if anyone happens to know... or can give me some pointers... ull get a hug lol

There are four places names Féline in France as you can see at http://www.ign.fr/rubrique.asp?rbr_id=1322&saisie=122065. The origin of the placename is Latin figlina 'potter's workshop'.

There are actually six Feline(s) place names in France that we have found so far and whilst I agree with the association to pottery in the derivation of the place names this appears to have nothing to do with the origins of the family name.
My latest theory is that the family are actually of Camisard origin probably from the Gard or Ardeche departments but I am still working on that.
