Message: "Metrick/Dmytryk" - Behind the Name

I was just wondering about the name Metrick. It was changed from its original Ukrainian form when my ancestors came to the U.S. I'm not sure, but I think it was Dmytryk or some such thing. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

From the first name Dmytro, Ukrainian form of Demetrius.

Most probably, the original name was "Dmitriuk".

Dimitric comes to mind. It is pronounced dimitrich, not dimitrik, and means 'Son of Dimitri'. For Dimitri go to www.behindthename.com
