I trying to find information on the ancestory/origins of the Getta surname.

Getta is a German surname as you can see at http://www.verwandt.de/karten/absolut/getta.html but I don't know its etymology.

It's hard to imagine anything else given the number of Gettas in Germany now and historically as you can see at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp. Do you have any other leads?
