My great-grandfather came to the US from Ireland not so long ago. Unfortuanatly, my grandmother accidentaly threw out his Elis Island papers, and no one remembers what county/town he was from! More importantly, I wanted to know the origin of the Irish Cunningham sur-name (different from the Scottish!). Thanks to anyone who can help!

I my names book Cunningham is the anglicized form of the Irish O Cuinneagain which means descendant of the leader/chief.
