→ chicken

My Czech teacher is from Moravia and from my experiences with her there is far more similiarities to Slovak in Moravian Czech than Prague Czech. This said, the Slovak word for chicken with the soft mark over the c seems quite connected to Kurecka with its soft c.

I also have map books for both countries and neither has cities or villiages with a close enough spelling to match. There are several cities that have names with Kuri- or Kuro-.

I am perplexed that a man would have this last name and it would not have been Kurecky with the daughter's name of Kurecka.
