Goetsch
I've been researching my genealogy a bit lately, and one of my ancestors had the surname Goetschy. After a bit of research I found this website- http://genealogy.familyeducation.com/surname-origin/goetsch. I guess my question has two parts-Is the information that the site posts correct? andHow would you pronounce Goetsch or Goetschy?
Thank you very much!

The information you cite is correct. As for the pronunciation, the tsch is exactly like English ch but the vowel sound is harder to describe since English has no equivalent. The best I can do is to say that it's pronounced like the letter a with the lips rounded.

It would appear from an entry on this website -
http://www.favoris.ch/patronymes/index.html
that Goetschy is not the same as Goetsch, being one version of the name of a Swiss village, Goetschi; though the place name may be based on the personal name.
